An 18th cen Indian manuscript ptg of Durga (a radiant Goddess rides lion or tiger) under water with swimming fish, some foxes, green squirrel-things, cute shoes on the shore, a pretty pile of clothes. Sold at Sothebys for around $2500. Just wrong that almost al contemporary art costs more than this. Not your fault - but ours. Koyaanisqatsi .....

"(Three Angels Offering Three Cups to the Prophet;" 15th cen. Angels offering 3 cups to drink during his mystic ascent to heaven; one of water, one milk, one wine. He chooses t milk - which symbolizes "primordial innocence + nature."

"The Eavesdropper;" 1430; Afghanistan. Five bathing beauties in a flat pool; three piles of clothes; plates of wine + fruit; a dancer + musician; note in the teeny-tiny opening between the upper-left hand window-shudders the eyes of a peeping man. Also check out ho the terrace in front of the pool comes out; gate behind the dancer goes back; the building recedes to the right; the upper-left window goes left; the river in the background recedes as in a renaissance ptg. Tiles are flat AND in perspective.
